Gerthill Allied Health School has a Home Health Aide Program that spans two weeks. This course is designed to prepare already Certified Nurses Assistants to become competent Home Health Aides to care for patients in a home care settings.
The course comprises of five main areas, which the Certified Nurse Assistant will learn before issued a Home Health Certificate by the State of California. Gerthill Allied Health School uses the Home Health Aide Model Curriculum developed to prepare CNA’s for certification as a home health aide by the State of California. This certification allows the home health aide to function as an entry-level worker on a healthcare team in a home health agency. The curriculum provides theory and practical application of knowledge and skill needed to function as a home health aide.
Upon completion of the program, the Home Health Aide nurses will be able to acquire the knowledge to practice home care knowing their roles and responsibilities. Courses covered are:
- Personal Care Services
- Cleaning and Care Tasks In The Home
- Body Mechanics
- Infection Control
- Communication Skills
- Resident Rights
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Vital Signs Monitoring
- Assisting In Activities of Daily Living
Classes are available in the morning (AM) and the afternoon (PM). As nurses, we understand that you have a very demanding job as it is. If you wish to continue your education and become certified home health aides, we will do what we can to make it convenient for you. Our flexible schedules are open for aspiring nurses who have to keep up with hectic and often erratic work schedules.
